I opened the application, what do I do now?

The first screen you are presented with is the pick a service page.  This is where you can enter MLB for free, enter a sneak peek (if eligible), and purchase services.

When you select a sport The application opens to either the “New Pick” or “My Picks” screen. In most cases, it will open to the “New Pick” screen unless you have a live pick.

“New Pick” allow you to create or place a new pick. You will be presented with two options straight wager or Parlay\Teaser.  After you select the bet type tap a game then the team you wish to pick. The Lines and Odds will update and justify under the picked team. Select the type for the pick (IE Line, Money Line or Over/Under). Select the amount for the pick. Tap to change either the line or the odds manually.

Tap “Save” to save the pick. My Sports Picks then tracks the game on the My Picks page.

How does the manual over ride work in Parlays and why is it there?

Just like a straight bet you can adjust the lines and odds with the orange arrow when you are placing the bet (see video to change the odds).  However, we felt like with 1000's of sports books out there it is very hard to have our ticket match your bet ticket unless you adjust every game in the parlay (Try it on a ten gamer, kind of a pain in the ass)..  Thus we created the manual override option.  This will let you enter your payout from your ticket so they match exactly. When you place the bet it will say $100 pays $350.  The $350 is including your original bet of $100.  When the profit is calculated it only shows what you win so the profit on a winner for this bet would be $250.  *** When manually entering the "pay out" amount Do Not include the original bet amount. *** we may change this if we get some suggestions that it is confusing since the default parlay does include the original bet amount.

What are the different bet types?

Betting on the Point Spread

Betting on the spread is by far the most popular options for football bettors. Basically a pointspread is a number the oddsmakers come up with to even out the playing field of the two opposing teams.

If you've ever bet on hoops, the concept is exactly the same. Essentially, the favored team will spot the underdog squad a certain amount of points. For example, let's say the Patriots are 10 point favorites over the Bills. If the Patriots (-10) wins the game by more than 10 points, Patriots' wagers will be winners. If the Bills ( 10) win the game outright, tie or lose the game by nine points or fewer, Bills' wagers will cash. Now, if the Pats win by exactly 10 points, both Patriots and Bills wagers will be graded as a ‘push' and wagers will be refunded.

Betting on the Total
Also known as the Over/Under, the Total is the total number of combined points that the oddsmakers think the two opposing teams will score. The bettor can either bet on the Over if he thinks the total number of combined points will exceed the Total or he can bet the Under if he believes that the number of combined points will fall short of the listed Total.
Say the odds-makers list the Total for the Bills vs. Patriots game at 42 points. If you think the two teams will combine for more than 42 points you should bet the Over. On the flip side, if you think they'll combine for fewer than 42 points, bet the Under. If the final score is 21-20, Under wagers will be graded as winners while Over wagers will lose; since only 41 points were scored.

Betting on the Money Line
If you want to simply wager on which team will win the game outright, money line wagering is for you. It doesn't matter whether your team wins by 1 point or 100, if your team wins, you win.
Although the concept is as easy as it gets, understanding the odds is a little tricky, so pay attention. Next to the favored team on the betting slip will be a minus sign (-) followed by a number. This number, the odds, simply tells you how many dollars you'd have to wager to win $100. The underdog will have a plus sign ( ) next to a number. This indicates the dollar amount you'll win if you bet $100.
So, let's say the Vikings are -160 favorites over the Bears whose odds are  130. If you think the Vikings will win the game outright, for every $1.60 you bet, you'd win $1.00, as long as the Vikings are victorious. Now, if you think the Bears will pull an upset, you'd win $1.30 for every $1.00 if the Bears do in fact win the game.
As you can see, you can play it safe and increase the chances of winning your bet by backing the favorite. Or you can go for a bigger payout by betting on the dog.
